Summer League follows the current WFDF rules with a couple of changes (most notably we play 5-a-side instead of 7-a-side). You can find the current WFDF rules here under the Ultimate section: http://www.wfdf.org/index.php?page=rules/index.htm#ultimate
The rules for Summer League are summarised below:
- 5-a-side
- open: there's no restriction on the gender ratio you can field.
- game length: 42min or first to 15points. 2min half-time after 20min.
- finish the point: when time goes during the point, check the disc (i.e. pause the game and acknowledge time has gone), then play on 'til the next point is scored, then finish the game. There's no additional points cap.
- pitch size: 45m x 25m with 15m deep endzones. Brick mark at 12m forward of the endzone line.
- 10 second stall count
- 1 timeout per team per half. Timeouts are 2 minutes long.
- Droppable pulls: pulls can be dropped without resulting in a turnover. Deliberately dropping the pull with the aim of advancing the disc does result in a turnover.
- Carbon flip: the team that brings the fewest cars (within reason) wins the flip. Teams that have to travel more than 15 miles get to deduct one car.
Summer League also uses the BULA Spirit scoring system. Score sheets are available here: http://beachultimate.org/SOTG_v2008_3.pdf
