Teams Entered 2008

The Lion, The Disc and The Wardrobe (The LDW)

Undoubtedly The LDW is one of the friendliest teams in Ireland having won the Spirit award in all the tournaments they have entered so far (Belfast Open 2007, Christmas Special 2007 and Easter Festival 2008). This however does not make them a push-over having come runners up at Easter Festival 2008. At the core of the team are very effective players who will lay all on the line with Moo leading the way.

CHASE

One of the favourites to lift the Belfast Summer League crown after their success in the Easter Festival 2008. A fast, athletic team based in Comber, Co Down, their intentions are to play fast and lose seldom. Pre-league training has already begun for these lads and it will undoubtedly show in the initial games.

Deep Heat

A relatively new outfit who have a range of experienced and not so experienced players. Outsiders to pick up the coveted trophy but should have enough nous to upset a few teams.

Kebab Hammer

An unknown quantity as the line-up still has to be finalised. Led by the Banbridge pair of Luke “The Editor” Carlisle and Darragh “Love-Bite” McCambridge, Kebab Hammer are sure to be a competitive team who could have a few potential shock results.

The Swerve

A team coming all the way from Coleraine, Co Antrim, who have ambitions are big as the distances they have to travel (120 mile round trip!). With a number of the players playing for English and Scottish universities, they will bring highly competitive Ultimate and will surely be fast and very difficult to beat. Runners up at the Belfast Christmas Special 2008, they will be hoping to take the league title back up to the North Coast this time round.

SCRUFF

As the junior team of the north, this team will, sadly, not know when to stop running. Will run and run and run and then some and will undoubtedly be a difficult prospect on Super Saturday when they'll have picked up experience from the previous games. With Alex Jeffery captaining there'll be experience to direct the energy and they will inevitably make some quality plays.
